ANC Youth League president Julius Malema has changed his tune about the SA Communist Party - calling for its unity with the ANC.
He was speaking during a Mkhonto we Sizwe Military Veterans Association political seminar in GaSekororo near Tzaneen in Limpopo on Saturday.
Malema said there was nothing that could divorce the SACP from the ANC, and that members of the two parties should struggle to ensure they did not split apart.
"We cannot afford to isolate the SACP," Malema said to loud cheers.
"The tripartite alliance should remain strong in defence of the ANC as the centre of power. The SACP will never contest the ANC in elections. Members of the SACP will always vote to ensure the ANC remains in power."
Malema also told the MKMVA to desist from "forever" complaining about being sidelined by the ANC.
"The MKMVA is a military wing of the ANC and it is not expected of them to complain about the ANC," he said.
"Instead they must fight for unity and make sure of raising whatever issues with the relevant structures," he said.
Malema's change of tune follows the hostile reception he received at the SACP congress recently - after he had criticised some of its top party leaders.
