PUTCO has assured commuters that it is doing everything in its power to minimise road accidents and to ensure the safety of passengers.
The assurance by Putco managing director Franco Pisapia comes in the wake of the latest accident in which five passengers were killed on the notorious Moloto road on December 9.
Two weeks earlier 10 people were killed in an accident on the same road.
As a result the Gauteng community safety department impounded more than 70 Putco buses after they were found to be unroadworthy despite having been passed by the company's in-house testing facility.
In a message aired on TV and radio at the weekend, Pisapia said: "It is most unfortunate that we've experienced a loss of life in the last 30 days. We have a zero tolerance level, both internally and externally, because the loss of one life ... is one loss too many.
"We are doing everything in our power to minimise these risks so that the roads are safe for all our passengers."
He urged people to report reckless driving.
Meanwhile, two groups - Putco Bus Watch On Moloto Road and Concerned Moloto Road Users - have been formed on social network Facebook.
Some of the comments said: "Eish! On this line of duty dat I do I see very ugly thigz da Moloto road wish dat all u guys using da road take it easy its bad (sic).
Another said: "... is now hiring younger drivers and they are driving these buses like toys. I hate their driving cus it seems as if they r not afraid of anything. They will haras u... sis man." (sic).
"... but to be honest, the government of Gauteng is just shifting the blame on Putco. There was a taxi accident two months ago and they failed to act. Why act now? Do you think they care? Their officials are highly bribed... "They should make a road a free way because it is tiny, it was going to be understandable if it was used by small cars and taxis." (sic).
