This after they arrested Nontombi Joyce Xaba, 39, who posed as a recruitment officer for the KZN department of health.
Xaba allegedly promised unemployed and unsuspecting youths non-existent jobs in the government.
She allegedly operated in Dundee, Ladysmith, Newcastle, Volkrust, Vryheid and surroundings, where she has defrauded 30 people of R165000.
But the police suspect Xaba might also have defrauded other people from outside the province.
Investigating officer Inspector Aveen Jagath said Xaba was arrested on Sunday in Soshanguve, Gauteng.
She briefly appeared in the Dundee magistrate's court on Tuesday and was remanded until Monday for a formal bail application.
Jagath urged victims to contact him through Sowetan's Durban office.
