Cops look for kwaito muso

SANDTON police say they are looking for kwaito star Thebe after a 21-year-old woman laid charges of rape against him.

SANDTON police say they are looking for kwaito star Thebe after a 21-year-old woman laid charges of rape against him.

But Thebe, real name Thebe Mogane, denied in a phone interview that he had been approached or notified by investigators about the matter.

Gauteng police spokesperson Superintendent Lungelo Dlamini said the case against Mogane was opened at the Sandton police station on December 6.

Dlamini said the woman who laid charges was a dancer in Thebe's entourage.

Dlamini did not have details of where and how the incident happened.

"Thebe was expected to turn himself in to police at the Sandton police station on Tuesday but he did not. We are now looking for him.

"Our understanding was that he would give himself up to the police where he would be charged with the alleged rape," Dlamini said.

Mogane yesterday denied that he had been involved in any case of physical abuse and said he had heard of it for the first time when someone called him in the morning.

"I don't know anything about the case," he said.

But Mogane later put his phone on voicemail and could not be contacted again for further enquiries.
