PHILLIP Ndou did not fight on Friday night as scheduled after is opponent, Ali Phiri from Zimbabwe, developed cold feet and blatantly refused to fight.

This left more than 400 fans disappointed since they had come to watch this flamboyant pugilist in action at the Wembley Arena in Johannesburg.

"I don't know what to say. To say I'm disappointed would be an understatement," said Ndou in the dressing room. He will get his purse money nevertheless.

To rub salt into the wound of promoter Branco Milenkovic, another Zimbabwean fighter, Peter Pambeni, just sat down after blocking what was intended to be a body shot from Oscar Chauke in the first round of their junior featherweight bout that was scheduled for eight rounds.

Meanwhile, local fighters Warren "Warrior" Joubert and Patrick "Mthakathi" Masango gave fans value for their money.

They went for it hammer and thongs from the onset but the young, fearless and more determined Joubert flattened Masango in the third round to consolidate his No 2 spot in the junior lightweight ratings.

Beijing Olympian Jackson Chauke made a resounding introduction to Milenkovic's stable by blowing Sandile Mxabaniso away in two rounds.

Ntutho Memela got up from the canvas in round three to flatten Masanda Kakaza in the fourth round.
