Krol laments poor finishing

INCONSISTENT Orlando Pirates might have defeated Platinum Stars 1-0, but their coach, Rudi Krol, is far from happy with their finishing.

INCONSISTENT Orlando Pirates might have defeated Platinum Stars 1-0, but their coach, Rudi Krol, is far from happy with their finishing.

The forthright Dutch soccer legend is disappointed with his charges' failure to win matches by an avalanche of goals. They have made it a habit lately of scoring only one goal a fixture.

"We need to consistently start scoring more than one goal a game. The team creates five to six goals," said Krol after their narrow win at Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Saturday.

Bennet Chenene scored the only goal of the match in the 67th minute, which saw Pirates move to fifth spot on the Absa Premiership log.

"We are happy with the three points, but my main concern is still around our failure to score more goals but we are working on that at training," said Krol.

Steve Komphela, his counterpart at Stars, said: "Early in the first half we had a goal, but it was not awarded. We could have done better, at the worst getting a draw. We can't lose matches like that."

Komphela could not believe his eyes when Stars midfielder Tshepo Ramokala was ruled offside by referee Charles Theron after a pass to Henrico Botes.

Bradley brought out the best in Pirates goalkeeper Moeneeb Josephs, who did well to punch his 20m thunderbolt away from danger in the 19th minute.
