WITH his latest album, Wadla Jesu, Thulani Manana is definitely taking Zion traditional gospel music to another level.

Manana, pictured, one of the best-selling Zion musicians, has done something that has never been done before in this genre. In his latest album, released three weeks-ago, Manana features mainstream gospel and maskandi musicians. In the album he works with Thokozani Langa, Zodwa Twecu, M-Siya, Lundi Tyamara and Bonakele.

He says the aim of working with these various musicians was to diversify his music.

"Working with various musicians has really opened my mind about music. I realised that we are all spreading the word of God and it would be a good thing to work together," he says.

The 5th Offering has already received positive response among gospel lovers.

Manana, who hails from Ermelo in Mpumalanga, says when he composes he looks at music that will speak to people's hearts.

"My music blesses and touches wounded hearts. I also try to warn people about things happening around them."

Though Manana is still new in the professional music business, he has quickly climbed the ladder because of his unique music. He defines his Zion style as isikhalanga.

"Isikhalanga was used in churches when a pastor or bishop was praying for people. It is very spiritual."
