PLATINUM Stars coach Steve Komphela's verbal tirade has landed him in trouble, with the PSL disciplinary committee finding him guilty of verbal abuse and bringing the league into disrepute.

Komphela was fined R25000, of which R15000 was suspended, and handed a one-match ban. The R10000 was payable immediately.

He was further ordered to pay the costs of the two sittings, amounting to R42000, and to send written apologies to the PSL.

Komphela can still appeal against the verdict and sentence.

Also in the league doghouse is Cosmos coach Jomo Sono, whose medical certificate presented to the committee as evidence was rejected.

Sono and Ezenkosi appeared before the league last night. He was charged with failing to attend a mandatory television interview after their match against Platinum Stars.

Sono's case was postponed to December 14 to enable his doctor to testify regarding the certificate. - Sowetan
