Tsutsulupa determined to impress national selectors

MOROKA Swallows' livewire captain Lefa Tsutsulupa has admitted that his constant exclusion from Bafana Bafana is making him feel down.

MOROKA Swallows' livewire captain Lefa Tsutsulupa has admitted that his constant exclusion from Bafana Bafana is making him feel down.

Tsutsulupa said he will continue to work hard, hoping to impress the Bafana technical team ahead of the World Cup next year. "There has been no explanation from the coaches why I'm not being selected.

"I honestly have no idea why I am constantly being overlooked when it comes to Bafana. I'm starting to get scared that I'll miss out on the World Cup next year," the industrious Swallows midfielder said yesterday.

"The national team is not a club side where a coach will sometimes offer an explanation if you're not in the side, so I understand why there has been no explanation and they obviously know what they are doing. The situation makes me feel bad, but there are no hard feelings."

Tsutsulupa also joined the number of South African football personalities who are confident of Bafana progressing to the knockout stages.

"It is a very tough draw and we are up against some good teams but I believe that we can make it. I see Mexico as our only real threat because France are not as good as they used to be and that gives me hope that we can survive," the Free State-born midfielder said.

l Bundesliga champs VFL Wolfsburg will become the first German team to play in SA when they take on Swallows in the Volkswagen Challenge trophy at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University on January 4.
