MOST football careers include some daring moves, like the one by goalkeeper Wayne Sandilands.

The obvious benefits of joining a team like Mamelodi Sundowns were clear to Sandilands when he decided to make the move from Platinum Stars: the bigger stage, more supporters to appreciate you and, of course, the bigger purse.

But there is also the small matter of the 26-year-old having to claim his space in a team that has three good goalkeepers in Calvin Marlin, Brian Baloyi and Jackson Mabokgwane.

So then, he will get exactly what he has been looking for: a challenge. And no one can dispute that Sandilands has what it takes to grab coach Hristo Stoichkov's attention - Chiefs initially went after him, although the move fell through.

"The team selection is not something I need to worry about. I will not be putting myself under undue pressure."

Bafana "is a dream that will never die, although my preoccupation is with establishing myself at Sundowns".

After a week at Chloorkop, the goalie says he has been made to feel welcome by all and looks forward to working with the players.
