LIMPOPO department of health and social development head Jabu Dlamini, pictured, has succumbed to official pressure and last week accepted a retrenchment package.

Though the figures were not made public, Dlamini was earning R1,2million a year.

She leaves at a time when her department is struggling to account for 80 ambulances that her department claimed were hijacked.

The provincial standing committee on public accounts (Scopa) has criticised both Dlamini and her department for failing to account for the lost ambulances.

"Even if she leaves she will still be called to account for the mess caused during her tenure," Scopa chairperson Derrick Ngobeni said.

Dlamini had been on sick leave since October 26 when she collapsed while at work, reportedly because of stress.

Attempts to contact Dlamini yesterday were unsuccessful.
