Sundowns fans have not had anything to cheer about lately because the club's matches - one against Santos last week and the highly anticipated derby against league leaders SuperSport United on Saturday - were called off due to heavy rain.
"We need them now more than ever before. I have been impressed with their behaviour lately and I think they have learnt a lot from their Bloemfontein Celtic counterparts because they were singing and dancing throughout in the rain until they were told to go home," Shakoane said.
"Our supporters came out in large numbers for our match against SuperSport United, only to be disappointed once again by the bad weather."
He said the players remained focused and were eager to do well against struggling Wits.
Shakoane said however that the postponement of their two matches was a bitter pill to swallow.
"We had prepared well. But, what can we say, the reasons were beyond anybody's control. The pitches were unplayable."
He said the Brazilians would prove tonight that Sundowns was a club made up of seasoned and hardened professionals.
"They are very much aware what the club management and supporters expect from them," he said.
"I know that their intentions of collecting points begins tonight against Wits."
Sundowns currently lie seventh on the table with 29 points while Wits, who have not won a match since October 4, are languishing at 11th spot with 21 points.
