He has certainly made some progress in restoring normality to that country. The SA government has achieved some positive developments in dealing with our neighbour.
In the last two weeks Zuma has appointed a task team to facilitate the process on behalf of the government. Then Pretoria signed a bilateral trade agreement with the unity government last week.
At the weekend the president was once again in the forefront during the Commonwealth summit in Trinidad and Tobago, trying to convince other members to allow Zimbabwe back into the group.
He argued that Zimbabwe's continued suspension was not very helpful to the situation on the ground. Up to now the president seems to allow his actions to speak louder than words.
The Zimbabwean crisis has been with us for a while and only the warring factions in that country can restore peace and progress there. We can only do so much to get them working together for the betterment of their country and the SADC. It's in South Africa's best interests that the Zimbabwe crisis be resolved as soon as possible.
The South African government has taken a bold step to resolve the situation. Let's hope they will get all parties to work together. South Africa cannot continue to deal with Zimbabwe as if it is our 10th province. Zimbabwe must get its act together
