We are ready

WE have heard football superstars Kaka and Fernando Torres say it on our TV screens - Ke nako. Indeed, it is time.

WE have heard football superstars Kaka and Fernando Torres say it on our TV screens - Ke nako. Indeed, it is time.

Short of the kickoff itself, the dream of the first Fifa World Cup on African soil will tonight take a decisive step to being realised when all 32 teams get to know who they will be playing.

The excitement is palpable. And so it should be.

We are certain that with the finalisation of the group match fixtures as well as their time and venues, South Africans, who have been slow in buying tickets, will be jerked into action.

All credit must go to the local organising committee for patiently dealing with cynics and doubters every step of the way since we got the rights to hold this wonderful sporting event. Tonight's spectacle will, we are certain, obliterate any doubts that there can be that we are ready for the world.
