Sun workers face lockout

SUN International said yesterday that the SA Commercial, Catering and Allied Workers Union had given the company the required 48 hours' notice to embark on industrial action, including strike action, countrywide at Sun International properties, in relation to its wage dispute declared on June 10.

In response to this, Sun International has notified Saccawu of its intention to enforce a lockout of bargaining unit members.

It said contingency plans were in place at all Sun International properties to ensure that its hotels and casinos would continue to operate throughout the duration of the strike action.

Saccawu said it would launch protest and picket actions from today.
