SANTOS are eager to consolidate their position in the second spot on the log when they welcome Moroka Swallows in an Absa Premiership match at Coetzenburg Stadium, Stellenbosch, tomorrow at 8pm.

Santos are still on a high after downing neighbours Ajax Cape Town 1-0 at Athlone Stadium last weekend.

Santos chief operations officer Edries Burton said if his team could repeat the performance that saw them pip Ajax, they should clip the Beautiful Birds' wings tomorrow.

"We have been consistently doing well on home soil and cannot allow our opponents to stop our good run at home," warned the former Santos captain.

"Surely it will not be an easy game but we're mentally and physically ready for it."

Swallows captain Lefa Tsutsulupa said they were eager for three points after throwing away two points against Orlando Pirates. Bucs were lucky to draw 2-all with the Dube Birds after trailing 0-2 on Saturday night.

"We committed silly mistakes and conceded easy goals after leading them 2-0 but we have since corrected our mistakes at training and we will be much stronger and organised against Santos," said the mercurial midfielder.

Santos' dependable forward, Erwin Isaacs, is a player the Swallows defence should monitor because he could punish them if not well policed. But defenders Vincent Kobola and Ashraf Hendricks are more than capable of dealing with Isaacs and company.

l Strugglers Bidvest Wits are likely to donate more points when they meet Ajax Cape Town at Milpark Stadium tomorrow.

The Students are going through a bad patch and their woes were compounded by a 3-0 loss to Bloemfontein Celtic at Seisa Ramabodu Stadium on Wednesday.

Kaizer Chiefs beat them by the same margin before their midweek loss.

Though the Urban Warriors have problems of their own, they remain favourites to emerge victorious at Milpark.
