JOMO Cosmos owner-coach Jomo Sono has often been accused of being an arrogant prima donna with a holier- than-thou attitude.
Much of it can be attributed to jealousy bred by the fact that he started off selling sweets and fruits on the trains in Soweto before becoming the biggest football star in the country and going on to start a successful football club. He is also a successful businessman to boot.
With Cosmos' difficult start to the season, many had condemned Ezenkosi to the National First Division and had demanded, with straight faces, that "Jomo must fire himself as coach". But he refused to listen.
Now Cosmos are showing signs of recovery, illustrated by their surprise 1-0 success over the fancied Orlando Pirates on Wednesday.
But Cosmos still face a Herculean task in the second half of the league.
Tomorrow they travel to Bethlehem for a date with Free State Stars at Goble Park Stadium. Kickoff is 3.30pm.
For the first time in a long time Cosmos go into a match as favourites, but it will be foolhardy of them to allow their triumph over Bucs to lull them in a false sense of security.
Stars can be dangerous at home and they are guided by Gordon Igesund, whose technical and tactical nous are unquestionable.
But if they can brush Stars aside tomorrow Sono would be well on his way to silencing his doubters... again.
