MEMBERS of the Pan Africanist Congress in the Empangeni region on the North Coast have thrown their weight behind party president Letlapa Mphahlele.

This despite other party leaders laying charges of "contempt of court" against a group of about 100 PAC members who held a conference in Cape Town at the weekend to elect a task team to take over the reigns of the ailing party from Mphahlele.

National executive council member Nondaba Zondi told a PAC gathering yesterday that their problem would only be resolved by coming together in a spirit of understanding and brotherhood.

Zondi said he believed that all PAC devotees - members, former members and veterans - who are concerned about the party's problems should come together to identify them.
