DJ ELANA AFRIKA has been entertaining us with her warmth and charm for the past nine years.

Her adventure began while she was studying at Stellenbosch University. She switched from a business degree to one in the performing arts. - and that decision has resulted in Elanamania!

After three years on the stage she was head-hunted by Kyknet and M-Net and brought to Joburg to pursue a career on radio and TV.

Being caught between the two mediums has only strengthened her love for both.

"I produce TV and radio shows and love working as a presenter in both," she says.

Elana hosts the ever-popular 5fm Weekend Breakfast with Elana, which airs on weekend mornings. She recently became involved in local channel Vuzu, where she doubles as host and camera-woman.

But right now Elana is taking a break to work on her nails.

"I wear colour only when I take my gel nails off to rest my nails. I call my favourite colour Barbie pink!"

Today she dares to go red with four leading cosmetic companies.

She tries Maybelline's Cherry first. "This covers gel nails quite well and it dries well."

Next she tries 29 Glam Girl from Essence. "This glides on beautifully. It also smells nice."

The third nail polish to be tried is 310 Red Carpet from Rimmel. "This one also smells nice. The longer brush makes it easier to apply. It has the best glide on."

The last nail polish to be tried is Charlies Lady in Red. "It has a very runny texture but once it's on it has a very nice shine.

"I'd say that the Essence nail polish is the best. It has the best overall look and it dries very well."

What is this red-taloned media princess aiming for? "In three years I want to be a billionaire, settle down and have babies!" - Keitumetse Segoai
