THE legendary Sir Elton John will perform at Durban's Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre on March 24 next year.

The concert was initially scheduled for Durban's Suncoast Casino.

Big Concerts' chief operating officer John Langford said the switch to the ICC was necessitated by the Durban public's concerns over the city's unpredictable weather conditions in March.

"By moving the concert to the ICC, audiences will enjoy the renowned Elton John in a world- class facility without any fear of rain," Langford said.

Fans who have already bought tickets for the concert should go to their nearest Computicket to change them.

Elton John's musical career spans over four decades.

He has to date sold more than 200million records worldwide and has had a multitude of hits that include Rocket Man, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road andDon't Let The Sun Go Down On Me.

Elton John will first perform at the following venues before heading for Durban: Johannesburg's Botanical Gardens on Sunday, March 21; Free State University's Cricket Oval in Bloemfontein on March 23.

Elton John heads for Port Elizabeth's NMMU Sportsfields on March 26 and Cape Town's Val De Vie Wine and Polo Estate, Franshoek, on Sunday, March 28.
