"Five people were injured in Pietermaritzburg when a taxi crashed into the back of a bakkie. A man was trapped and we had to use the jaws of life to free him," said Netcare 911 spokesperson Jeff Wicks.
One person was in a serious condition while four others had minor injuries, he said.
