THE Limpopo department of education has dispatched officials to Mopje Secondary School to investigate claims that a teacher was caught by his principal kissing and fondling a Grade 10 pupil.

The teacher had allegedly told the 16-year-old pupil to stay behind after the exams.

He then took her into a mobile classroom on Friday under the pretext of helping her prepare for a test.

But a few minutes later principal Rector Molewa went into the classroom and allegedly caught the teacher with his pants down.

The baffled principal summoned the teacher to his office, where he reprimanded him for his conduct.

A meeting involving circuit managers in Bolobedu, near Tzaneen, members of the school governing body and school management was held to discuss the "unspeakable" behaviour of the teacher, but no decision was taken.

The same teacher had allegedly impregnated another Grade 10 pupil from the same school twice last year, and also another 15-year-old pupil, according to the school governing body.

Chairperson of the school governing body, Masale Semosa, said the two girls had refused to cooperate when their parents asked them about their pregnancies.

She said the parents of the girl with two children wrote to the school demanding that the teacher be dismissed.

Semosa said the girl later made an about-turn and refused to reveal whether or not the teacher was responsible for her two pregnancies. - Alex Matlala
