Ajax a real threat to United

AJAX Cape Town forward Sifiso Vilakazi reckons SuperSport United's unbeaten run of 14 matches in the Absa Premiership League will come to a screeching halt in Cape Town this afternoon. Ajax is the only team that has gotten the better of SuperSport this season.

AJAX Cape Town forward Sifiso Vilakazi reckons SuperSport United's unbeaten run of 14 matches in the Absa Premiership League will come to a screeching halt in Cape Town this afternoon. Ajax is the only team that has gotten the better of SuperSport this season.

And Vilakazi's confidence is not unfounded. No matter how strong United are, they tend to find it hard to beat the Urban Warriors. Never mind the fact that Ajax have struggled under new coach Foppe de Haan. In fact, the Capetonians remain firmly in the reckoning where the league race is concerned.

"Well, we can certainly beat them, we did it in their backyard," Vilakazi said yesterday, referring to their 1-0 win over the defending champions at Super Stadium on August 29.

The hosts will still be without the leadership of skipper Brett Evans and defenders Thulani Hlatswayo and Derek Decamps. United will be minus injured Morgan Gould and Thandani Ntshumayelo, but with Jabu Maluleke, Daine Klate and Anthony Laffor in fine form. The match kicks off at 3.30pm at Boland Stadium.
