OPPOSITION leader, Helen Zille of the Democratic Alliance has lambasted the ANC for deploying its unqualified comrades to run municipalities.

OPPOSITION leader, Helen Zille of the Democratic Alliance has lambasted the ANC for deploying its unqualified comrades to run municipalities.

She said lack of service delivery was the result of these appointments.

Zille, pictured, was speaking in Shayamoya township, Kokstad, when she visited the area on Sunday.

This followed a request from local communities asking her to come and experience at first hand the challenges facing them in the area.

The newly built RDP township is one of the poorest, with communities having to live with excrement flowing down streets dominated by the spilling sewerages and leaking water pipes.

Zille also took the opportunity to touch on the controversial Matatiele demarcation issue and called on councillors to rather focus on service delivery.

She said the government should stop messing around with borders and instead focus on service delivery because it is tragic to find that people living in one province get descent services but some from another province don't.

Zille called on Minister of Provincial and Local Government Siclo Shiceka to come and see where the real problems were.
