KAIZER Chiefs coach Vladimir Vermezovic is refusing to throw in the towel in Amakhosi's quest to win the 2009-2010 Absa Premiership title.

This is despite Amakhosi's 2-0 defeat by the red-hot SuperSport United in a thriller at Loftus on Wednesday night.

Chiefs are seventh on the log with 25 points from 17 games, 11 points behind log leaders Matsatsantsa a Pitori.

But Chiefs hope to regain their pride when they travel to Milpark Stadium on Sunday to face Bidvest Wits in a 3.30pm kickoff. Vermezovic believes in miracles, saying anything can still happen as the second round of the league is only two weeks old.

The Chiefs mentor is keeping his fingers crossed that striker Knowledge Musona will be fit to play soon.

Wits captain Sibusiso Mahlangu believes their away 1-all draw against Maritzburg United on Wednesday in Durban has raised more confidence in the team. The stalemate came after Wits lost three games in succession.

"We need the three points by hook or by crook to improve our 10th position on the log," said Mahlangu.

Wits manager George Mogotsi has urged fans to buy tickets from Computicket and at Shoprite and Checkers stores.

l Mamelodi Sundowns are keen to push Free State Stars into the quagmire when the Brazilians visit them at Goble Park tomorrow at 3.30pm.

Downs go into this clash with high hopes after an inspirational 2-0 win over Orlando Pirates in midweek.

Stars collected their first point under new coach Gordon Igesund after playing to a goalless draw against Ajax Cape Town.

"We raised the hopes of MaSundawana (Sundowns supporters) with a star performance against Pirates, there is no turning back," Downs publicist Alex Shakoane warned yesterday.

Stars brand manager Rantsi Mokoena said: "The days of us being too generous with the points are over, we are starting a new campaign to end the season in the top eight bracket."
