Both teams go into this contest smarting from weekend defeats. United went down 3-2 to defending champions SuperSport United at Loftus, while Wits succumbed 2-1 at AmaZulu.
The Students have been going through a bad patch recently and will need a much- improved performance to upset the hosts, who are under the tutelage of former Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp. The German native was roped in last week.
Wits lost three consecutive matches.
They were pipped 2-1 by Matsatsantsa and Usuthu at their home base and lost 3-1 to Platinum Stars on the road.
They have now dropped from eighth spot to ninth with 20 points from 16 games, four ahead of 12th-placed United from the same number of matches.
But Wits coach Roger De Sa is adamant that his team will be up to the challenge on the day.
"We are extremely disappointed to lose three games in a row but that will be history (tonight)," De Sa said yesterday.
"We just need to stick to the basics and try hard not to make silly mistakes.
"We should also be consistent upfront."
The Team of Choice showed great character against Matsatsantsa and are well placed to emerge as victors at home.
Wits's deadly striker Calvin "Dolezar" Kadi and company will find it difficult to penetrate United's rock-solid defence, marshalled by Byrone Hendricks.
United's winger Elias Ngwepe is also bound to cause problems for the Wits defence.
