The woman, who came to be known as Khwezi, a longtime friend of the Zuma family, accused Zuma of raping her in 2006. Zuma argued that she had consented to sex. Khwezi, then 31, left the country shortly after Zuma was acquitted that year, reportedly fearing for her life.
