Bucs confirm Segolela swap is part of Mayambela deal

BLOEMFONTEIN Celtic will meet midfield maestro Mark "Professor" Mayambela today to finalise his imminent transfer to Orlando Pirates.

BLOEMFONTEIN Celtic will meet midfield maestro Mark "Professor" Mayambela today to finalise his imminent transfer to Orlando Pirates.

An impeccable source close to Mayambela, who spoke on condition of anonymity last night, told Sowetan the player still has to sign for Pirates.

"There are one or two things that Celtic's management still have to sort out with the player before the deal can be finalised," said the source.

"Mark was in Johannesburg last Friday for a short meeting with Pirates where he also underwent a medical.

"Pirates want him on a two-year contract, but Mark is still talking to them regarding some of his personal needs, like salary and signing-on fee.

"As for Pirates and Celtic, they have already agreed on terms for the transfer of the player. Celtic also want him to go to Pirates, I think based on their great relationship," added the source.

Celtic chief executive Ikie Augousti has confirmed that the player's move to Pirates is imminent, adding they hoped the transfer would be completed today.

Mayambela could not be reached for comment as he was in a camp last night preparing for today's Absa Premiership match against Santos.

The player was quoted in the media yesterday as confirming his relocation to Johannesburg.

Pirates have broken their silence on the transfer.

The club's website said: "The deal will see Tlou Segolela, currently on loan at Celtic, signing a permanent deal with Celtic, while Mayambela will join the Buccaneers,"
