RTMC's spokesperson Thandi Moya, however, said they did not know the origin of the e-mail.
"We request those spreading the false news to refrain from this conduct," she said.
According to Moya, the demerit points system would be implemented as part of the national roll-out next year, and official announcements will be made at an appropriate time by the Department of Transport and the RTMC. - Sipho Masombuka
