ONE person was killed and 19 others injured in four separate road accidents in Gauteng yesterday.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha said a 31-year-old man died after the car he was travelling in veered off the N12 highway and into the air before landing 30m below.

"Paramedics found the man about 10m from his mangled vehicle.

"Although paramedics tried for nearly an hour to resuscitate the injured man he died on the scene after having sustained serious heard injuries," said Botha.

Fifteen people were injured in a crash involving a minibus taxi on the N1 north near the Samrand off-ramp at about 7am.

Paramedics believe that the taxi's tyre burst, causing it to overturn several times. All the injured were taken to Thembisa Hospital.

Three people were also critically injured in an accident involving two minibus taxis which were travelling along Van Dyk Road, in Boksburg.
