SOSHANGUVE police in Pretoria have issued a warning to taxi operators about a new tactic used by hijackers targeting Toyota Quantum minibuses.

According to police spokesperson Inspector Lolo Mangena, taxi operators have fallen victims to thieves who pretend to be looking for transport to church functions out of the area at night.

Mangena said four such hijackings were reported to the Rietgat police in Soshanguve within the past month and they all involved the Toyota model.

The inspector told Sowetan that taxi operators should give police their travel details when booked for night trips by people unknown to them. - McKeed Kotlolo
