Light at end of business tunnel

WHILE the global financial meltdown is hurting small to medium enterprises as well as big business, taking the entrepreneurial route might provide light at the end of the tunnel.

This became apparent at the African Entrepreneur conference in Polokwane last week.

"Activating social capital" was the buzz phrase among delegates

The gathering coincided with the international movement of entrepreneurs during the Global Entrepreneurship Week from November 16 to 22.

The conference was attended by representatives from government, academia, banking, mining, and tourism and was held at the Jack Botes Hall.

African Entrepreneur is an information-based project that focuses on workshops in which successful entrepreneurs share their experiences with aspirant entrepreneurs.

"The concept is based on dealing with challenges we face everyday as entrepreneurs, particularly those from Africa," said Morare Manaka, publisher of African Entrepreneur.
