BEIJING - EDOARDO Mortara won the Macau Formula Three Grand Prix yesterday.

The 22-year-old Italian moved up from third on the grid to win the 56th version of the race ahead of fellow Signature driver Jean-Karl Vernay of France. Mortara's compatriot Gabriele Tarquini earlier won the world touring car championship by finishing fifth on the streets of the former Portuguese colony.

The 44-year-old survived a high speed collision with defending champion and fellow Seat driver Yvan Muller in qualifying but recovered to wrest the world title from the Frenchman, who finished third. - Reuters
