The X-Men actress - who has previously spoken about the abuse she and her mother suffered at the hands of their partners - is relieved the Umbrella hitmaker ended her relationship with Chris Brown after he assaulted her in February.
Berry said: "Any time a woman frees herself from that kind of bondage - it makes me proud."
Meanwhile, Berry has denied she and long-term boyfriend Gabriel Aubry - with whom she has 19-month-old daughter Nahla - are planning to have another child, insisting she is too busy with working on her new perfume range.
When asked if she was contemplating having another baby, she told US TV show Access Hollywood: "Not my real baby, but my career baby and it's called Pure Orchid. I have to say it's pretty."
Berry recently admitted she used to be attracted to abusive men as she often saw her father attacking her mother when she was growing up.
She said: "Early on in my life I chose men who were abusive because that was what I knew."
She said she underwent therapy and learnt what to do if and when a relationship became violent. - Bang
