THERE has been no breakthrough in the search for Etwatwa, Ekurhuleni, councilor Godfrey Mbethe.
He disappeared without a trace on July 22.
Police have circulated pictures of two men wanted for questioning in connection with Mbethe's disappearance but there has been no solid lead.
Mbethe's wife Gcobisa said she lived in the hope that her husband would be found unharmed or at least living.
But she said that "the circumstances surrounding his disappearance were too strange to dismiss the worst-case scenario".
"The police showed me the pictures of the men they are looking for but I did not recognise any of them," she said.
"We don't have peace here at home. We are undergoing counseling provided for by the metro. It is really helping me cope. The circumstances of my husband's disappearance has me worried that something horrible has happened but I still have hope he will be found."
Police spokesperson Constable Timothy Masilela said: "The police have received some calls from people saying they know the two men we are looking for but we do not yet have anything real to go on."
He said the picture of the one man was taken inside a Nedbank branch in Benoni and the picture of the other at an ATM terminal in Naledi in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni.
According to the municipal spokesperson Zweli Dlamini, the city printed 300 posters and 10000 flyers of Mbethe, 41, who was last seen when he left home at about 10.30am to draw money from a nearby bank.
Gcobisa has been married to Mbethe for three years. She said there had been more than R20000 in his account and that it had all been wiped out in over-the-counter, ATM and till-point transactions made in Benoni and the East Gate shopping mall on the day he went missing.
