PARIS - French sports minister Roselyne Bachelot is disappointed by the way the French football team qualified for next year's World Cup and has urged coach Raymond Domenech to improve.

Bachelot said yesterday on RTL radio that the French team "has to pull itself together" if it wants to perform well at the showcase event in South Africa.

France qualified for the World Cup with a 2-1 aggregate win over Ireland after defender William Gallas scored a contentious equaliser in extra time.

Bachelot said: "If we continue on this path, this is not going to be fine in South Africa." - Sapa-AP
