Durandt needs a psychiatrist, says Ndou

LOVEMORE "Black Panther" Ndou, the IBO welterweight champion, says trainer Nick Durandt is a sick man who needs help.

LOVEMORE "Black Panther" Ndou, the IBO welterweight champion, says trainer Nick Durandt is a sick man who needs help.

"He needs to see a psychiatrist," said Ndou from his home in New South Wales, Australia, yesterday.

He was reacting to Durandt's comments regarding Ndou's title defence against Matthew Hatton in the UK last weekend.

Durandt said Ndou claimed that he would expose Hatton as "a donkey on a racecourse".

"He will not get any calls from Floyd Mayweather Jnr for sparring - not after such a poor performance. Sparring with Floyd was his claim to fame," said Durandt.

He dared Ndou to defend against his charge Chris van Heerden.

But Ndou, the former IBF junior welterweight titlist, wants to fight Isaac "Angel" Hlatshwayo, who holds the IBF welterweight belt - and no one else.

"Don't worry about what that sick man (Durandt) says. He needs help," said Ndou in his parting shot.

It's highly unlikely that that fight will happen because the two boxers' respective promoters, Rodney Berman and Branco Milenkovic, are sworn enemies.

Ndou won the IBO belt here in July under the guidance of Harold Volbrecht, who was also in his corner last weekend.
