Manhunt for missing murder suspect goes on

MPUMALANGA police are still searching for an alleged confessed murder suspect who skipped bail more than a year ago.

MPUMALANGA police are still searching for an alleged confessed murder suspect who skipped bail more than a year ago.

Paulos Lali Madisha, 31, of Masoganeng Section in Mmalebitsa village was arrested for the murder of his employer, Joas Botlholo Makgoba, 27, of Greenside near Marapyane on May 7 2006.

He was arrested a couple of weeks after the death and later confessed to the murder in the Temba magistrate's court. He told the magistrate that he was paid R6000 by the victim's mother, Ellen Mmampadi Makgoba, 56, to kill her son.

According to Sergeant Hastings Chaane of Mmametlhake police, it all started after the death of the deceased's father , Johannes Makgoba, a popular businessman.

The son (Joas) was then appointed by his mother to manage a café but he was always at loggerheads with her. She then allegedly hired Madisha to kill her son.

Chaane said the deceased's mother was also arrested and charged with murder. The charge was later changed to conspiracy to murder.

He said after several appearances in court Madisha was granted R1500 bail in 2008 and warned to appear in court on April 15 last year.

"He failed to appear in court on that day and the magistrate issued a warrant for his arrest," said Chaane.

Chaane said they were following up leads that he could be in the Pretoria - Bronkhorstspruit area.
