DEPARTMENT of Public Services and Administration have since April 2008 spent R41million on travelling and staying in hotels.

This was revealed by Minister Richard Baloyi yesterday in a written response to a parliamentary question.

Between April 2008 and April 2009, department officials clocked up R31million in travel and hotel accommodation costs in South Africa and overseas.

And despite Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan's promise to cut back on government spending on travel and hotels, DPSA officials have spent more than R10million on travelling and staying in hotels since April this year.
