SIMON Nare, your article on Kaya FM's Breakfast Show (Sowetan, November 13) just doesn't have it. Your ranting is vague at best and malicious at worst.

If you're still smarting over Phat Joe's departure don't take out your bitterness on others.

It would have helped a great deal had your raving not been all puff and no cream. Without the latter you are dangerously misleading readers.

I liked Phat Joe and miss his wit and boldness (minus tactlessness) but to expect Kgomotso Matsunyane, in particular, to be like him borders on an attempt to subdue her individuality.

Had you not focused on Matsunyane you wouldn't have exposed your lack of objectivity. Perhaps Ndumiso Ngcobo could be said to be out of place and panting after the rest.

Matsunyane's knowledge of current affairs comes out naturally. Her presentation of issues not only exudes knowledge but radiates vibrancy. What is interesting about her is that, unlike other females who seem concerned with how best to giggle at almost everything, she stands her ground against male counterparts and can tell them to get lost.

She brings in a substantive gender balance that was not there before, a maturity that's driven by a progressive rather than conservative spirit.

This isan elaboration your article failed to make. Anti-transformation thugs might be smiling that you carelessly deal with the principles of affirmative action and women empowerment.

Even in a perfect world Matsunyane needs neither, but you don't realise that because you seem driven by a desire to drop the axe on her.
