THE five Makhumbuza High School teachers alleged to have had sexual encounters with their pupils will soon know their fate after they were charged with misconduct by the South African Council for Educators.

SACE spokesperson Rej Brijraj yesterday said they had concluded the investigations and would announce the outcome on Wednesday next week.

About 13 pupils had pressed charges of sexual harassment against the five teachers and one teacher was arrested. The criminal trial resumes in the Umlazi magistrate's court next month.

The internal investigation conducted by the department earlier had found four teachers not guilty of the sexual harassment charges and had withdrawn the charges against the fifth teacher after one pupil failed to attend the hearings.
