NUM spot on about alleged Godsell racism

I COMMEND NUM for its reaction to the Eskom debacle. Through its general secretary Frans Baleni it has clearly proven to have come of age.

It refused to see the Jacob Maroga versus Bobby Godsell clash as racially motivated, something many of us are wont to do when things don't go our way.

NUM's stance must be commended because Eskom's woes cannot be blamed on an individual, but on Thabo Mbeki's regime. It did very little to beef up Eskom's power-generating capacity when it was tasked to power previously disadvantaged communities. Then Maroga became the most infamous person with load-shedding. With or without Maroga, Eskom is in big trouble. Government must lead.
