STRUGGLING AmaZulu have beefed up their technical team by appointing former Thanda Royal Zulu coach Roger Palmgren as director of sport.

Palmgren will start his job next month and is expected to oversee youth development, working with head of development Thami Ngubane and director of coaching Clive Barker.

One of his responsibilities will be to develop players within the club's structures and to establish networks both locally and internationally to market the players.

"I feel wonderful about joining a club of great stature and potential like AmaZulu. I believe that my knowledge of identifying and developing talented players will be very beneficial to AmaZulu. I'm sure that in cooperation with Clive (Barker) and Neil (Tovey) we will produce something great," he said.

Usuthu have also issued a clearance to Bafo Biyela, who was placed on transfer by Tovey after their working relationship soured.

Meanwhile, Maritzburg United are expected to announce their new coach today.

Miguel Gamondi and Ian Palmer are among those tipped to replace Gordon Igesund, who resigned last week.
