The new transfer window was opened yesterday and will close on December 15.

PSL chief executive Kjetil Siem told Sowetan yesterday that the idea to move the transfer window forward was taken after a close look at the compact nature of the 2009-10 season.

"We are halfway through the season already and if we had to wait until after the normal January transfer window period there would only be six games left to play before the end of the season and that would not be fair to the clubs and the whole idea of the transfer window would be lost.

"We actually asked Safa to talk to Fifa about it and thankfully they agreed," Siem said, adding that there were no objections from the clubs when they were notified.

Moroka Swallows coach Rainer Zobel welcomed the news but said he had no plans to make any new signings to add to his squad of 30 players at the moment.

"I think I stick with the players I have for now."

Orlando Pirates communications manager Mickey Modisane said he would only know what changes would occur - if any - during the transfer window.

Bidvest Wits coach Roger De Sa said he would meet the rest of his technical team first and make a decision afterwards.

SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt said he would consult his technical staff to see if there would be changes in playing personnel.

Meanwhile Siem revealed that the investigation into PSL general manager Ace Ncobo's "very complicated" case was still ongoing.

"There is nothing I can say at this moment because the investigation is still on and I have no idea when it will be completed," said Siem.
