Woman shot during attempted hijacking

A 40-YEAR-OLD woman from Verulam, outside Durban, was in a critical condition after she was shot during an attempted hijacking, paramedics said.

Netcare 911's Jeff Wicks said: "The woman was in her vehicle pulling out of her driveway when she was confronted by masked gunmen.

"She was shot in the face and she is critical in hospital."

He said the attackers had tried to pull the woman out of her car.

They fled after they fired one shot and they left the car.

In another incident seven people were injured when a minibus they were travelling in slammed into the side of a car on Pinetown's Richmond Road yesterday. The flow of traffic from Old Main Road into Richmond road was affected. - Sapa
