THE people of Montsana Village in Rustenburg have lost their oldest granny Pheelwane Rosina Ratlhaa.

Ratlhaa, 105, died in her sleep last Friday at her house in Montsana, Rustenburg, in North West.

Her 46-year-old granddaughter Magdeline Seitlhamo, known as Magathi, said Ratlhaa was a people's person in her community and to her family.

"She was a very humble, friendly, generous and intelligent granny. We all learned from her past experiences, ideas and knowledge," Seitlhamo said.

"Her dream was to see all of us working hard everyday so we could give a good education to our children and grandchildren."

Ratlhaa came to Montsana at the age of one from Sikwane in Botswana after her parents died.

She married the late Lesele Michael Ratlhaa in 1927 and was blessed with seven daughters.

Ratlhaa is survived by her seven daughters, 51 grandchildren and 123 great-grandchildren.

"We will always remember you Nkoko as a good teacher and our mother," her granddaughter said.

"Thank you for sharing your life with us."

Ratlahaa will be buried tomorrow. The service starts at 7am at her house and proceeds to Montsana Cemetery at 9am.
