DAVID and Victoria Beckham will not return to the UK when he retires.

The soccer star, 34, has been based in Los Angeles since joining LA Galaxy in 2007. Now he wants to stay in the US when he quits the sport because the couple and their sons Brooklyn, 10, Romeo, seven, and four-year-old Cruz are able to lead a relatively anonymous life in the US.

He said: "We have a normal life. I can see us living here for a few years."

Singer-turned-fashion designer Victoria recently admitted she had found their previous home, Spain, "tricky", and said living in the US made her feel "equal" to David.

She said: "I found Spain a little tricky. But from the minute we landed at the airport, we were equal. America is equal, it doesn't matter whether you are a man or a woman. In Spain it's more difficult for women."

Though the couple are settled in Los Angeles David is set to spend six months in Italy from January after signing a deal with soccer giants AC Milan. He recently admitted to hating being apart from his family.

He said: "The biggest thing for me is I go away and leave my family for six months.

"Anyone who knows me knows how I feel about my children, about my wife and my family." - Bang
