AFRO-SOUL songstress Zonke Dikana is the latest celebrity to join Muvhango.

Dikana follows in the footsteps of Zuluboy and Phila Mazibuko. She has landed a role as a mysterious woman who will step in with a parcel and stir things up at Mukwevho Holdings.

The move is seen by many as a way of attracting more viewers to the controversial show that has been riddled with resignations.

Dikana told Sowetan that never in her wildest dreams had she ever thought about acting.

"I've always thought of myself as a singer and nothing else, but my manager thought I might do well as an actor and found me a casting agent. A few weeks after I joined the casting agency, I got a call to auditions," she said.

Dikana, whose life in the limelight began when she started doing sessions with Bongo Muffin, said the warm reception from her fans had encouraged her to pursue music.

Dikana said the Muvhango audition was so difficult that at times she did not think she would get the part. She said the hardest part was remembering her lines. She also found the cameras intimidating, she said.

Muvhango fans can catch Dikana's debut next week. She is busy with a new album, Ina Ethe, which will be released soon.
