MPUMALANGA Black Aces have moved swiftly to find a replacement for coach Sammy Troughton by appointing Aiki Ayiomamitis as his successor.

The colourful Cypriot has been appointed AmaZayoni coach until the end of the campaign, with an option for renewal.

Aces communications manager Thabo Moroape said Ayiomamitis was happy to have renewed ties with the Absa Premiership upstarts.

"He is already in South Africa and will start work with the players as soon as possible," Moroape said yesterday.

"We only started talking to him on Monday and he is happy to be a part of the club. He was actually our coach while we were still campaigning in the First Division but left to attend to family matters back in Cyprus. We are happy to have him back with us ."

Club CEO Marc Grune was equally thrilled that Ayiomamitis was back.

"He knows the culture of the team and will continue where he left off with the players," he said.

Ayiomamitis could not be reached for comment yesterday.
