SHANGAAN disco king Foster Teanet is in dire financial straits after the Young Communist League's failure to repay R3000 it owes him.

The father of six, who says his family is now suffering because of the bad debt, accused the league of failing to pay him after he rented out his instruments for a function last month.

Teanet said he was approached by the league's chairperson Phetole Mashamba on October 11 to rent them the instruments for their function - and that the agreement was that he would be paid the money three days after the event took place.

"But when I called them for payment, Mashamba called me to Maake police station where he works as a reservist."

At the police station Mashamba signed an affidavit stating that the the YCL would pay the money before October 28, said Teanet.

Mashamba, who claims the amount agreed to was R1500, told Sowetan the musician would now be paid "at the end of the month".
